  1. English is a required language.
  2. Citizens of all nations in the world are eligible.
  3. A student must be enrolled in an HDR course of study at Deakin University whether they are domestic or international in order to qualify for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance, or DUPRS.
  4. An applicant must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth intended to cover HDR fees in order to be eligible for an RTP Fees Offset.
  5. A scholar must not be getting income from another source that is larger than 75% of the RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate to cover their general living expenses while enrolled in their course of study in order to be eligible for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend. Money that is unrelated to the student’s course of study or income that is relevant to the student’s course of study but is not used to fund basic living expenses is not to be considered.
  6. A first class Honors degree or a similar level of academic excellence is required of applicants for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend, which must have been earned after at least four years of postsecondary education.

Doctorate Requirement:

Completion of research project in a related subject comprising a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year’s full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework with accomplishment of a grade for the project comparable to a Deakin grade of 70% or equivalent.

Master’s Degree:
