Application Process for master’s degree in Sweden

language Requirements for Applying to Swedish Universities

Since the majority of master’s programs in Sweden are taught in English, it is a requirement. English 6/English B course equivalents are typically required for a master’s degree, but this might change, so be sure to check your program for specifics.

An English test won’t necessarily be required. You can meet two more language requirements to have your proficiency deemed sufficient. Which are:

Swedish University Application Deadlines

Typically, Sweden is one of the countries that offer two admissions rounds—one in the fall and one in the spring.

There are several important days in the autumn first round of admissions. Which are:

• Mid-October: Start of online application
• Mid-January: The deadline for admission applications
• February deadline – for fee receipts or evidence that you do not have to pay
• February is the due date for receipt of supporting documents.
• March: Initial selection notice

• April: Second selection notification
• September: The start of the fall semester

After obtaining your admission letter and accepting the offer, you will need to submit an application for a study visa.

In order to obtain a study permit, you must submit an application to the Swedish Migration Agency and go to the embassy or consulate general. Although acceptance isn’t assured, the stronger your application, the higher your prospects are.

The study permit is necessary since it will allow you to stay in Sweden while you are pursuing your education. After just three months, they will have enough justification to “escort you out” if you don’t apply.
