Melbourne Research Scholarship Components

The following advantages are given to scholarship recipients:

  • Scholarships to offset fees and stipends
  • For students pursuing a doctoral degree, the full tuition may be waived for up to four years or up to two years for those pursuing a master’s by research.
  • For students pursuing a Masters by Research degree or a doctoral degree, the living allowance is $32,400 per year pro rata (full-time study rate) for up to two years or 3.5 years, depending on the length of the program. The living allowance comprises a small amount of paid sick, maternity, and parental leave and is subject to annual indexing.
  • Students migrating from other States or Territories besides Victoria will receive a $2000 relocation award, while students travelling from outside of Australia will receive a $3000 grant.
  • For international students who need a student visa to study in Australia, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership is available.
  • For students pursuing a doctoral degree, the full tuition may be waived for up to four years or up to two years for those pursuing a master’s by research.

Melbourne Research Scholarships Requirements

The following prerequisites must be satisfied by applicants in order to be eligible for Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRS):

  • English is a required language: IELTS/TOEFL
  • Eligible Countries: Nationals of all Countries
  • A Master by Research or Doctoral degree at the University of Melbourne must have been applied for, and you must also meet the entry requirements.
  • You must be currently enrolled at the University of Melbourne in a research degree program.

Application Procedure for Melbourne Research Scholarship (MRS)

Please follow the steps below to apply for the Melbourne Research Scholarship

  • You will be automatically eligible for the Graduate Research Scholarships if you are a new student and have applied for a graduate research course before the deadline for that course. Within seven days of submitting your course application, you will get a notification that a scholarship application has been added to your file.
  • If you accepted an offer for a graduate research course and deferred your program, you must submit an online application by October 31 in order to be reconsidered for a scholarship the following year. A notification that a scholarship application has been added will be sent to you seven days after application.
  • To be eligible for a scholarship the following year while enrolled in a graduate research course for which you are applying, you must complete an online application by October 31. Within seven days of submitting the online form, you will get a notification per scholarship application.
